June 2nd - 3rd

Tuesday greeted us with more chilly, damp weather,  and neither of us wanted to admit we weren’t really excited in making a passage this fine day.  But once we talked it out, we decided a day of projects and cooking would be in order.  We had a little head odor situation going, so that was a priority.  For all you non-boaters, realize now that heads are somewhat of an obsession with boaters.  We found that the vent was a little close to the engine air intake and when the engine was off sometimes the odoriferous air was brought back inside the cabin.  That figured out, we blocked off the intake portion of the scenario, and problem solved.

By this time surely you can tell that Dan is writing this, if not by content, by run-on sentences.  My next project was to deal with a stray current to a galley lamp, and to re-wire, changing from 110-volts to 12 volt LEDs.  Now Kathy’s galley has three LEDs to brightly lite the work space.

In the meantime,  Kathy has been busy organizing a chicken soup with dumplings,  making chocolate chip cookie bars, and two fresh loaves of bread.  We also made an excursion up the Mystic River to fetch some ice.  Eventually we found a small marina where we bought three blocks of ice on the honor system, putting our cash in a little slot, and helping ourselves to the ice.  Second night in Mystic was spent at a quiet anchorage, quiet except for the high-speed commuter trains constantly going back and forth.  Character.  And it didn’t affect the taste of the chicken soup with dumplings!

Wednesday arrived much nicer, weather wise.  A quick breakfast of oatmeal and we were headed down the river, bound for an Easterly ride in Long Island Sound.  We were greeted by a near 2 knot fair current, giving us a whopping speed over the bottom of near 8 knots.  A near perfect motor-boat day, with just a lite wind and chop.  We enjoyed that ride till nearly 1600 hours and were very happy to pull into Bridgeport behind Fayerweather Island,  where we found room to anchor amongst the moored boats.  Launching the pram, we headed for shore to find some WIFI, in order to bring you this update, courtesy of Captain’s Cove Seaport, and sitting under a couple 8 person rowing sculls and a 35 foot long model of the Titanic having a drink.  Not a bad day sitting here listening to “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, I think I’ll have one!
