This week we made a few more preparatory gains here on the Willie Dawes
Our re-worked propeller shaft came back from H and H machine shop all shiny like brand new. I have installed a part of it, but am short one set screw and the right stuffing box/ packing gland which will have to wait for a midweek.
This morning my friend Billy Correll, ace aluminum welder, helped me fab up an arch that will span the cockpit and support the after end of the bimini as well as the barbecue and a couple solar panels. It will also serve as a great hand hold while moving about the cockpit. He also welded up a new anchor roller which will mount on our bow plank off to starboard. Thanks Billy!
We received our US customs decal for entering the states from foreign waters. Also received the 2015 tide and current books for Canada. We have been seeing the pics in the news about the Canadian Ferries being stuck in the ice and hope that whole situation will be cleared up by the time we get there. It wouldn't be too hospitable of them to have ice in August.
And after supper tonite we put the new name on the quarters of the hull (with King Neptune's permission). Long sail the Willie Dawes!
Customs decal? Haven't heard about that! Always something new to learn...
